Last summer I bought a pair of shocks from hagon to fit onto my T120. Found that the springs were too hard, kept coming out of the seat on even the smallest ridges in the road. Hagon kindly replaced them with a lighter spring. Since then I've been battling with the things to get a good compromise between comfort and handling. Do you think I can find it? All this morning I've been going up and down with the rebound, at the top my head and neck just jard, too soft, it is better but still not good enough. Got the compression correct but it was bottoming out so cranked that down a bit which is better. It kind of makes my bike less enjoyable to ride now, so will have to swap them back to the originals which is not a good move forward. What else is there to try, any ideas guys?
The best shocks for a T120 are Bitubo. They will build the units for your weight and are very nicely made and finished. I have them on my T120 and am very pleased with the ride comfort and control. B & C express have an offer on ebay at the moment and you can get them for £284 or £320 with adjustable damping.
Just a thought but I have a set of IKON on myT120 and have found them hardish; but having watched a Tec video of an install of their shocks realised that I didn't have the spacers for the stubs. Unlike the pre 2016 bonnevilles the new LC range have a shorter stub for the shock eyes to fit over. So I was tightening onto the steel bush giving no clearance!! so put a couple of M8 small OD (16mm) on each bolt to let the eye move. https://www.tecbikeparts.com/produc...adjustable-damping-adjustable-length-feature/ about 2.50s talks about it
They did, but too bouncy, now I'm suspecting that the shocks were bolted ridged, so unbeknown to me at the time I changed the spring for a lighter one.
Wishbone, many many thanks for putting your reply on. I did find that like the guy from tech stated, washers are required. I drilled some stainless penny washers out to size and it transformed the ride. I've just softened up the compression a bit and I'm sure we're onto a winner. Cheers for that.
Couldn't get on with the shocks and swapped them back to the oe. Yesterday my knee had kind of a arthritic pain, just came out of the blue. Got on the bike again the next day and found out why. My back had trapped a nerve due to the constant jarring from the suspension. This is not a good situation as I'm a manual worker, lucky I can sit for a while then stand at intervals during the day.
I’ve got the 2810s on my thruxton and they work fine, you didn’t put them on upside down or anything? There were a few people that queried the fact that the sticker was upside down at one time!
I have Hagon shocks on my T120, they work fine ! Have used Hagon before on other bikes and always found that they made a big improvement. Have you changed the front suspension ? That made a big difference. Talk to Hagon again, I have always found them very helpful.
Yeah sorry but as they look upside down peeps did take the stickers off and fit them the wrong way round But not sideways like mine
Yep the same, I'm wondering if they have gassed them up too hard? Mine are nitros, look a bit beefed up in comparison.
Just lost 1/2 stone in 2 weeks, not putting it back on, too many jackets to make fit. The springs are 11 or so turns, and most other shocks are only 9 at the most.
