300 is an awfully a big number, a turbo busa that I witnessed on the dyno made 243 mph with over 450 bhp. Can’t remember exact number

I remember reading an article way back in the 90's. About Suzuki's attempt to steal Hondas crown from their Blackbird & crack 200mph.

    The short version is...
Suzuki's engineers quickly realised that in order to better the Blackbirds performance. And get anywhere near 200mph. They either needed an additional 100bhp or they needed to massively improve the Hayabusa's aerodynamics.
Hence the fairing that looks like an easter egg that was left too close to a fire.

BTW... Apparently "Hayabusa" is Japanese for something resembling a "Hawk" i.e. a killer of Blackbirds. Who said the Japs don't have a sense of humour? :joy:

Bit out of touch these days but nowhere long enough over here for 300mph as far as I'm aware.
RAF Woodbridge was about the longest hard surfaced runway but isn't used now.
Elvington has some noise issues (or did) unfortunately so couldn't use all the runway.
Pendine Sands is used now I think.

Topped mine out at 186. **** me that was quick, scared the living daylights out of me, had to be done though. Grown up a bit since then. On a personal note, I cannot see him doing it either

I can confirm that this is true. I filmed it from a camera on the back of Annie (my 865 T100)
I would post the footage but it's a little grainy. Due to how far Ken was behind me. Plus everytime I pulled a power wheelie during up shifts. All you can see is the tarmac behind Annie  :p

:);):(:confused::cool::p:D:eek::oops::rolleyes:o_O:worried:. German Autbahns back in the day were brilliant!! As I say, I’m an old man now. Topped out my Thruxton R last year on the same road 130 mph, then my mate passed me on his blade at 160 plus. I keep telling my children, I will never grow up

I'd agree with the comment about the distance not being adequate at Elvington. I was there when this happened and it wasn't pretty......

@Ken walburn I think a few of us have been there in that situation when younger. I once had xxx mph on a zzr 1100 and thought wow that was so easy ...... so did it again
Told salesman it was rubbish when he asked as my licence would only last days :confounded:

Bloody press always have to sensationalise a headline don’t they.
She crashed at about 90mph not 254mph. Still, bloody scary anyway, and a fantastic achievement to get that record speed.
As for Guy, he’s got a few screws loose anyway so no surprise that he’s giving it a try. Good luck to him I say though I’d be surprised if he pulls it off. :p

Did she have a open face helmet when she crashed? It looks like it. ;)

And she fared better than the bike. After the bike cartwheeled along it looked pretty sad for itself. Apparently the fancy ecu in the tail got lost for a few days or something like that.

On a road trip to Germany on the Autobahn I got an indicated 186mph on my GSX-R 1000 K5, my mate asked me what speed I got to, when I told him he asked what it was like in 1955 :joy:, for those who don't know this was a reference to the film, Back to The Future :p.

Hayabusa means Peragrin Falcon - the fastest bird of prey - that just so happens to enjoy a diet of Blackbird. I once clocked over 100 in 1st gear - superb bike but not great on the wrists on a long run.
