    Good Day, new to the forum and looking forward to getting my first bike. I'm 57 yrs wise and always a car guy, but always had a love and respect for motorcycles. I take my MSF in two weeks, then plan on buying my first bike soon after. I fell in love with the Triumph line of motorcycles and the best part is the experience and attention to detail our local dealer has. He spent a very long time discussing the different bikes and wasn't there trying to sell me one, as other dealers were attempting to do. Love the Tiger Sport class and looking to purchase as a Christmas present to myself. Thanks for allowing me to join! Steve

    Greetings and welcome to the forum, @Hazmat9! How exciting that you are taking your MSF course in two weeks and looking to buy your first bike. :grinning: I hope you enjoy our forum community. There are many helpful members on here with vast knowledge and experience and who are very willing to share their knowledge and experience with other members.

    I also live in Arizona--Tucson to be specific. Where are you located? My Triumph is a Speed Triple RS and my local dealership in Arizona Kawasaki--KTM--Triumph. I'm wondering if the world is small enough that you also live in Tucson and have been talking to Bruce at AZ--KKT. ;):)

    Good luck on your MSF class and please keep us posted on that along with your decision regarding your first bike. And when your new bike is tucked safely in your garage, remember that we here on the forum LOVE photos--hint, hint. :blush:

    Welcome to the family. Great intro. And good luck with your choice of bike. Yes do let us all know how things pan out with the test and bike.

    Hi Sandi, and thanks! I'm in Fountain Hills, AZ just NE of Phoenix about 34 or so miles. I hope to do business with Phoenix Triumph located in Mesa. Hopefully I can figure out what I want and get it soon, will post photos definitely! Thanks, Steve

    @Hazmat9
    Hi, Steve. My hubby and I and our riding buddies have passed quite near to Fountain Hills many times when riding down the Beeline Highway. We typically turn south on Bush Highway ride down past Saguaro Lake on our way back to Tucson via Florence. What a lovely area you live in with tons of great riding!

    Hope your MSF class goes smoothly and that you enjoy it. Sounds like you're leaning towards a Tiger of some sort. Are you looking at any of the other Triumphs if I may ask? You also mentioned that you've always been a car guy--what kind? Inquiring minds want to know. ;):joy: Again, welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy it enough to become a regular here as there are lots of great folks in this community.

    Sandi, I became interested initially in the Trident 660 because of its friendliness towards new riders, however I sat one one for quite a bit of time last weekend and it just felt small for me....I'm pushing 6 ft. Since the Tiger Sport 660 hasn't come out as of yet, I tried sitting on a 850 since the size I'm assuming will be similar to the upcoming 660. It actually felt pretty good and the handlebars sit a bit higher....very comfortable. It sounds like they aren't expecting the 660 until at least March...I'm thinking the 850 might be too much but based on specs, it's modified somewhat like the Trident, and I'm too old to be a speed junkie, so I'm edging toward the 850 since it has everything I want (and the color I like too)....but we'll see how the MSF course goes...that should tell me quite a bit. I'm a past car guy from California originally (owned and sold a '68 Camaro Pro Street I built back in the early 80's to pay for college)...but the cost of a classic car these days has just made me plain sour and for the cost of a classic car that needs a lot of work, I can buy a brand new bike and not have to worry so much about where I park it....lol.

    Thanks, Steve. I'm curious to know what your final bike purchase decision will be. My own experience and that of a number of riding friends has been that we haven't always stuck with the type of bike that we originally chose when we started out riding. Might be the same brand but often a different model or style. It does sounds like you're doing your research. I have learned that simply sitting on bikes helps more than one would anticipate--particularly to rule out particular bikes. And it's fun shopping!! :grinning:

    Very cool that you had a '68 Camaro! Mr. Sandi and I have a friend who has one (not sure whether it's a Pro Street though) and he loves to take it to the track. I've never had a thing for cars until fairly recently when I traded my sedate sedan for a 2019 Mustang Bullitt. Now I'm far more interested in cars...though I still don't know all that much. I do now worry about where I park. :scream::joy: Mr. Sandi and I recently went to a huge car show that the Tucson Rotary Club puts on annually. I took tons of photos and posted a thread that might interest you.
