This may come as a surprise to some. Last June I travelled to Pisa and on to Pontedera, Italy on my scooter. I rode with two other guys. One on a Vespa GTS 300 the other rode a Honda VFR 800. My vehicle of choice was a Piaggio BV 350. I loved it and have now recently bought a Tiger 800 Xrt. This was the furthest I had ever ridden on a bike! I am hooked and am now looking forward to more european excursions on the Tiger with my good lady on the back. It may be the 'wrong' time of year to buy a bike but come spring, I will be raring to go! I am still keeping hold of the Piaggio - it's one hell of a scooter!
Agreed, and dealers usually have good deals at this time of year in an attempt to get punters through the door. Welcome, enjoy the bike and whatever excursion you find yourself doing next year.
Hi Phil and welcome to the Triumph Asylum - you have already seen a glimpse of the madness that goes on here, but don't worry as Nursie will be round soon with your 'Meds'. I salute you sir, for your scooter trip. Taking an italian scooter to Italy is a VERY cool thing to do.
Welcome from Germany, Phil! In my eyes: best time of year to buy... You have your new bike ready to go in spring when others think about ordering one and have to wait until June if unlucky... I learned riding bikes in my childhood in the summer vacation in northern Italy on a Vespa and I treasure every minute of these memories! Have a good time with us on the forum
