I agree. Sportsters are fun to ride.

 

Took 1200 Sportster out for a test ride thought I was old enough to own one at 60. Took it back 10minutes later they don't go, wont handle, and don't stop it was like riding a tractor.

 

Yes bikes of the very early 70s bad brakes elastic frames. Not sure how i survived the 70s on those bikes. Perhaps that why some of us can and prefer to still ride powerfull bikes without all the electronic wizardry. But hey each to there own just enjoy your bike.

 

so its exactly like a harley............. actually scratch that, it started and completed the journey........

1200cc Sportster Engine when tweaked and made to go, handle, and stop.

 

Totally opposite every Sportster I've ever ridden -all both of them. It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow as far as I'm concerned.

 

I agree @jaffa , had one back in the day. A great all round bike

 

They are a very good bike indeed a mate of mine has one and he does some serious touring on it without missing a beat.

 

Back in the 70's I was riding a 1974 Yamaha. It was dual overhead cam, 4 valve per cylinder [a twin]. Had a disc front brake a put out 49 h.p. out of 498cc, and a redline about 10,500rpm. I used to laugh at the
H-D riders dragging all that useless weight around with that wheezing industrial motor. I changed to Triumphs back in 2002. I still laugh at those guys. Quit pretending and go buy a motorcycle ! ...J.D.
