I have just put the fuel pump and fuel sender in my new tank which has been resprayed and casewell coated. I have put new gaskets on both i have tightened them by hand it says torque 5nm in manual I tried that torque on old tank which is scrap. there seems a lot of force on such small bolts going into plastic inserts if one breaks its game over £500 down the line. Can anyone advise me cheers Arnie.

5nm is not a lot, I have just chamnged my filter and they didn't take much to undo. I have re-tightned by using the 8/10mm (can't remembner) socket, on an extension with no ratchet and just gone round them all and tightened by hand.
Deffo do not want to overdo them.

You sure don't wanna strip the threads in the tank. Gentle plus a gnats cock should be about right.

I bought the above torque wrench and was actually surprised at how much more effort than hand tight it was, I expercted it to have been pretty near tight enough, but no. Useful little tool for those less stressed bolts, for sure.
