ok, I’ve read and read about this and the more I read the more confused I get! With the tiger 800 forks the oil level should be 103mm from the top of the fork some say the inner tube and some say the outer. The outer being the gold coloured tube and the inner being the actual fork leg. There is a difference of around 50mm from the top of the inner tube to the top of the outer. Which one do I measure from? I fear I will have to dismantle them again.
To my mind, and I may be wrong cos I haven't checked. It's 103mm down from the top of the inside of the inner chromed stanchion on a 'right side up' fork leg.
thanks mate, mine are upside downies and having checked the other fork it looks like it’s measured from the top of the outer (gold) tube, unless of course that’s wrong and now I’m even more confused!!
Have it on good authority that the measurement is taken from the top of the outer fork tube, the gold one, on udf’s. As I had done it from the inner tube on the first fork I did the same on the second fork then measured the quantity needed to bring the level up to 103mm from the top of the outer and just added that to the first one. Saved me taking it all apart. Let’s hope it all goes back together!!
