Picked up my 2007 Sprint ST today and the nearside mirror is very loose with lots of play where the arm twists at the mounting base on the fairing. Anybody had this before and got a tip on tightening it back up please?

Standard problem. When the mirrors are folded back the spring loses some of it's tension. If you take the mirror off you can get to the spring. There isn't any adjustment on the early models but you could fabricate some kind of shim. I believe the later models have a nut that allows tension to be added.

VFR mirrors are nice on these. The last owner of mine fitted them.

To save me dismantling mine to have a look, does a 2009 have the adjustable nut? If it has one that's a job for the weekend.
If it doesn't what do you mean by a shim, wear would that be put?
    Thanks

I don't know what the changeover year was.
This shows the tension spring on the earlier mirrors. I haven't done it but I have read that people have added washers or similar under the spring to increase the tension.
