Paint and finish concerns. Just completed 600 miles and love the bike. A few concerns that will raise when the dealer re opens but wondered if anyone else is experiencing this.
I have the GT and the metal looks asif it is “pitting” in different places. It’s hard to see on the photos but there are almost elements of grey within it. Is there a cleaner that I could try?
Secondly it looks like there is paint coming off of the exhaust underneath and spraying up onto the stainless steel pipes and sticking to it. Once again, don’t want to rub too hard but it is definitely stuck on there. Anyone have the same?

As you say hard to see using pictures, what I can see seems like water marks and splashes looks like polish would remove it ,

Yes it is difficult to see. May try in the garage later with flash to see if I can get better pics. Definitely not water marks though.

I would just wash with salt free cleaner polish off - but if still marked - dealer would be next call. Bet @dilligaf is inspecting his as we speak..

Looks similar to the pitting I got on the brushed metal finish on my Thruxton casings which I thought was salt from the road, I cleaned most off with autosol BUT ended with a polished finish rather than brushed!!:confounded:

Isn't that just covering a part that you have paid a premium price for? I'd rather report and hopefully get a resolution to the fault.

Have you put pics on R3.net to see if it's happening elsewhere?

Looks like salt damage these parts have no protection and need a coat of acf50 or similar once they've been refinished

Welcome to the world of brush finished metal surfaces
    They look brilliant
    In reality they’re SHITE :poop:
I wipe them down with a cloth sprayed with WD40 after EVERY ride :(
Pain in the arse it is
But that’s the price you pay for the look

It’s not poor finish as such
But it’s bare metal surface and it requires a maintenance regime that we’re not used to
NUDGERS engine cases were a pain
But I kept on top of them and he went back to Triumph looking as good as the day I got him

Yes I thought may be tar but then thought it hadnt been warm enough.
Looking in between the exhaust and down of the muffler there is black paint that has come away. Going to try and get a better picture.

I would expect Triumph to put some protection on the parts if there is such a thing

Back onto brushed finish,it really needs an etch primer but they aren’t any transparent etch primers out there so then they can’t produce a good key. Therefore a look like that never lasts unless it was lacquerless then it would need dressing up every week with wire wool.

It’s called lacquer or paint :)
But if moisture gets under without you noticing it spreads and bubbles lifting the lacquer/paint :(
We’ve all seen it and it’s not just a Triumph problem

Do you think the paint from here would be what Im looking at on the exhaust.
Should I try and get it off or wait for dealer once they re-open?
