Finding Neutral Gear

No problem here. Is the clutch lever adjustment OK?

 

How old is it? I'd change the oil with a bike specific one of the correct grade.

 

Search the forum and you'll find a few threads where guys have had problems with sticking clutch plates, also I seem to recall there was a slight design mod on the actuator but that was some years ago, you should be ok with a low mileage '15 plate (mine is 65 plate 94R 12k miles and has been fine).
Some recommend semi-synthetic in preference to full-synth for better clutch action, however I've been using full-synth and not had any issues.
Newer Speed3's had a problem with sticking clutch lever so worth checking that's moving freely, and I'd adjust cable free play to only a couple of mm to maximise clutch release.
Do you have original clutch lever? - Only problem I've heard with after market levers is where they've been fitted by a numpty and hasn't fitted the brass bush creating loads of pivot play/wobly lever)

 

Check the dipstick of you are low on oil. My old Speed Triple was like that if it was just a little low on oil.
Also, an oil change with quality oil is always a nice thing to do to your bike.
You never know if the dealer actually did change the oil so check the colour of the oil on the dipstick.

Follow the instructions in the manual when check the oil.

 

As a new bike I was stunned how much oil was consumed by Tigger.

It barely drinks a drop now but did leave me almost ‘dry’ once in the early days, and it did interfere with the gear selection.

Also, as others have said, check the clutch cable.

if not just ride but try not to stop.

 

Is the clutch ok ? Not sticky when the bike is hot.
As other said check the clutch adjustment

 

Check your drive chain adjustment as well

 

This may seem odd but bar chain tension and clutch cable adjustment one thing is,do you use the side stand on bike if so stop doing that and invest in a warrior or similar stand to keep bike vertical,that made the biggest difference to my 2011 bike when changing down I’ve always found it way easier to select neutral if I blip the throttle before pulling clutch in. Oops one last thing check the bolts on the gear lever and rod and bracket are not slightly loose where bracket bolts to frame.

 

Low mileage, so has been sitting a long time
Clutch plates dry out and stick
You need to take off the clutch cover
Remove the clutch basket and separate the plates
KEEP THEM IN ORDER
Clean the metal and cork plated with a brush
Soak them overnight in oil
Put back together

You would only need a new clutch cover gasket and the tools
