some totally useless twat has decided in my area to move the majority of local bus stops, not their actual location as such they are moved out from where they once were so that now they are in the actual roadway,by what logic in anyone's mind is this is good idea now you have no choice but to sit behind all buses while they stop to pick up and drop off passengers, before they just pulled into the space at side of road and all traffic just passed by on their merry way now all traffic is stuck behind them aaarrrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhh.

The reason they do that is... The buses cant get out of the stops cos the nice car drivers wont let then out, cos the dont want to, and I quote " to sit behind all buses " Honest .Please dont hurt me.

Basingstoke and Deane Council did this a few years ago now. All the previously formed bus lay-bys were removed so that the buses had to wait in the road (lets not even mention the cost to the taxpayer). They even moved the previously staggered stops so that they were directly opposite each other so cars couldn't pass at all. The reason given was that it deliberately inconvenienced car users and so would encourage people out of their cars and onto public transport.
These people are absolute cock-wombles and have no idea how the real world works!:mad:

Round by me, councils have spent 100,000s of pounds raising the heights of the stops for the convenience of the passengers, Now we have a new fleet which are equipped with doors that have a stabilising rod situated under the door and so, if we stop at the raised part of the kerb we break the doors.
