I did an oil change on my 2005 speed triple today, an when I took it for a little run I noticed the engine warning light had come on. It's running fine, and have not had this before. Ideas?

No, not yet. Will give that a go tomorrow. Could I have overfilled it? The oil level seems slightly high on the (useless) dipstick...

Yes an overfill could maybe cause a fault keep it to the exact level and try the three 12 minute runs let it cool down between.
    Regards
    Joe.

which light do you mean Vulpes??the yellow one (engine management). an oil change should not cause any lights to come on. as the ecm is not linked to anything that would be affected by an oil change other than oil pressure being low due t lack of oil

nothing to do with the oil change then mate. have you got tunecu if so plug it and read the code. I think it must be just coincidental

You didn’t disconnect anything whilst doing your oil change did you Vulpes?
Maybe just for better access? : unamused:
I can’t see a slight overfill causing the EML to come on. Sounds more like a coincidence as feckless says

No, nothing was disconnected during the oilchange. Just ran the first cycle, two more to go. See what that brings. If that doesn't work I'll check around the airbox. I had that off a few weeks ago for cleaning. There might be something amiss there.

Halfway though the second cycle it decided to switch itself off.
I'll check whether it stays off when I start it again after it has cooled down.

Happy for you. I think they all do silly thing like that when we work on them.

If you turned on the ignition (not even starting the bike) while the air mass sensor was unplugged from the airbox, this would cause the error

    Just a thought

That could have happened when I had the airbox off, mate.
Tnx for the tip. I was wondering where this came from.
