ok bit of help needed I recently broke down on on my 2010 speed triple anyway long story it needed a new starter motor bought one just got round to fitting it tank back on hit the starter button bingo fired straight up actually spinning over faster than it's ever done. only problem is the engine management light is on can't figure out why the only electrics I have disconnected are the ones under the tank and the oil pressure switch. the ones under the tank definitely clicked back in place. I have had the tank of before to change the spark plugs and everything was fine after that have I forgot something

You need to know what error code is bringing the light on to fault find. Have you got a dealertool? I got one for cycling the ABS when I changed the fluid on my 1050 Tiger SE (2013 plate) but it has many other functions including fault codes and clearing of them. It could be a spurious issue the bad starter motor has caused that once cleared will not return having swapped out the starter. Or it could be unrelated to any of the starter problems. You’ll only know if you can read the code, clear it and see if it comes back.

EDIT I was unaware of the three cycle solution mentioned below - everyday is a school day

It's not uncommon for the EML to come on after you've had stuff apart. First thing is to do three hot and cold cycles, that is get the bike up to full temp and shut off. Do this three times and if the stored fault has not reoccurred the EML will go off....

If you do 3 full warm up cycles from cold to hot (when fan comes on) the light should go out if all is well. If it doesn't you need a diagnostic fault code.
MightyBoosh beat me to it with the answer.
