Just thought I’d share an experience I’ve had with T-Rex Racing out of the USA. I purchased full R&G frame and axle sliders back in January. Instead of the R&G engine case covers, I liked the look of the T-Rex ones so I bought them. I’ve put about 8,000kms on my speedy with these on and I found my alternator slider has cracked around one of the mounting bolts. The bike has never been down. I noticed this issue while doing some chain maintenance the other afternoon. I emailed T-Rex about my issue, with pictures hoping they’d send me a new slider. I got no reply for 3 days so I called them in Texas. The guy I talked to, told me that the engine vibrates, and this crack is considered “wear and tear”. I’ve promoted these sliders to others because they seemed great. I take it all back! These will be going in the garbage and I’ll never buy another piece of crap from them again! I totally understand things fail sometimes. Their lack of customer service and any form of backing of their product is what pisses me off the most!
Hi Abirnie, I would bin them if I was in your position, go for the Triumph ones I know they are more expensive but they are very good quality and cover the full casing, Evotech are also very good, although I am not sure they are readily available stateside.
Wow.. Wear and tear? Right.. How are they expecting anyone to trust those in a crash if the bleeding vibrations from the engine are enough to break them..
I hate to hear you had a bad experience with T-Rex. I had T-Rex frame protectors on my 2018 gsx-s1000 and really liked them. I will look elsewhere when I get ready to add protection to my 20 Speed RS.
Abirnie Don't know your laws or right over there. But here it is unfit for purpose and you are entitled to a refund. That is even more as it is dangerous if it snapped so easily Joe.
I know im late to this post but couldn't help but notice that those sliders are nowhere near fit for purpose. Looking at the construction itself you can blatantly see that these have been 3D printed (look at the layer buildup on the edges, you can see the lines) and done so poorly. Id be querying the material used to do this as PLA if used is not suitable for this application and is quite brittle under vibration/impact. If ABS was used theres clearly been a fault with the manufacture. Most covers like yours are moulded plastic which is a completely different manufacturing process.
Off topic… Abirnie, which luggage have you got there? My Speedy looks exactly like yours (same colorway). I just got back from a nine day trip around the northwestern US and wanted something just like that.
They are SW Motech Urban ABS bags with the included SLC side carriers. SW Motech Daypack tank bag also. Really great quality stuff!
