How do! Got a 2007 rocket classic 6 months ago. Developed the fast idle problem, revs itself up randomly to 2400rpm instead of idling. No fault lights showing. Mechanic thinks it's a TPS, but the ECU isn't allowing his diagnostics using triumph tech, tune ecu, etc. Everything he does directly to the TPS makes it worse. He reckons it might have been remapped with a watermark to prevent access. Two chip tuners have failed to get in. Anyone got any ideas? Getting desperate...

Would it be worth taking it to a Triumph dealer and seeing if they can access it. I read recently that manufacturers use encryption on their ECU's but if Triumph can't get in to it there must be something wrong with the unit. Perhaps they can give you a clue.

Just a thought. I'm no engineer.

Cheers, but I've spoken to an independent Tromp l triumph specialist and a triumph dealer. Neither sounded like they understood the problem, just telling me they had all the equipment. But my local guy has the same equipment and he's locked out. He's had to use passwords in the past, but this seems something different. Both the triumph specialists are a long way off, and expensive. I am considering just replacing the most likely TPS, and hoping the 12 minute tune can do its job.
