Ongar triumph great dunmow has sold up today to Lings I think. The mechanic has set up a new garage just behind rolls royce in Dunmow. Good place to get triumph service without the pricetag!
Lots of small dealerships seem to be going, the manufacturers are putting pressure on them to invest in expensive corporate showrooms, they end up either giving up the franchise or selling and then in some cases there is no local dealer at all. In Oxfordshire there is no longer a local Triumph or Yamaha dealership, how is that good for business.
Bill retired a few years ago and the owner, Alan, has just retired hence selling to lings. Hopefully will still be good for a cuppa but if not theres the new place up the road!
Alan seemed to think they would carry on where he left off, he just did not want to invest to the level Triumph were insisting he had to when he was 72! I think it will be all new staff though!
Bill was still there in March 2018 , I can only say for sure because I nearly bought my Thruxton from him but he only had Green in stock and I wanted Black. But still he’s a great person to deal with
I must be confused with the ppl. Jason was the youngest there in the showroom.. and of corse Alan. There was another bloke thats works part time. Anyhoo new hands now. Yes I beleive so..Alan said at 75 he wanted to retire so he has. Good luck to him.
Popped in there today for some 4mm tank vent pipe, nothing in stock... I mean the whole stores has been gutted! Nearest place to get the part, according the not so helpful guy, is near Diss in Norfolk, otherwise he could order the bits in for Tuesday!.... oh dear!!!!
The guys, Brian and Jason, from ongar have opened up a place, Dunmow Motorcycles in Great Easton. Specialist in Triumph, Honda and Suzuki. Brilliant guys
