I was in fowlers of bristol the other day and then down at bridge motorcycles in exeter and what struck me was the only people in the triumph sections was old age pensioners. and it got me thinking do young people ride triumphs I am not quite a pensioner yet but I am getting there. and looking around you just dont see young people riding them. are they looked upon as a old mans bike.
Most of the youngish guys and gals in our TRMCC ride sports bikes, but still Triumph. Rocket 3s and Cruisers seem to be 30-50 and retro 40-60. Most younger guys in NZ ride either Motard, scooters, or HDs.
bob1. You don't see as many young ones in any showroom any more. They have a moped for a year. And then even the hardened members look at the test costing nearly a grand for them. After that they check insurance which can cost between 3 and 5 thousand for them even pcp will go through the rook if they can get a dealer to take them on. In our beautiful country the snobs don't want bikes on the roads. And snobs mean votes so bikers are trouble makers. And young one would rather bin the moped get the car test and drive a car on mum's insurance. There you have it biking Britain. You could not imagine the kids that come along to see my bikes when I sit out polishing them And all say the same exact words. Wish I could afford that. Ride Safe & Enjoy Joe.
Our lifestyles and relative wealth mean youngsters can afford cars. Biking is increasingly for those who have spare cash in later years. We old gits are less a dying breed than symptomatic of changing times when many riders emerge from their mid life crisis and discover what they missed....
Suzuki 125 Van Van; Now that's a bike Girlfriend had one and I knew the timing of the traffic lights down to a tee. A friend on a Versys 650 couldnt beat me to work .... except one morning when one light was out of sync and I rammed a young lass up the ar5e She got out all flustered and after a polite exchange i rode off with bent forks Couldn't tell my eldest cos he'd take the pi55 so I've told him to this day it fell off the sidestand..... Naturally he didn't believe me and still doesnt.
Looking at pics of Rocket meeting - looks like fogeys day out, looking in mirror and I'm going that way too...
Whey man, Millennial boys have been brow beaten into to being more feminine than female's. Maybe just maybe being a biker is too much man than they can handle!
He's not on here so no he doesn't I couldn't find any forks to make her bike right so ended up buying another one to rob the forks off. Sold it on, minus forks, for the same money I bought it for
Most Triumph riders are younger than me ...... SIGH! Actually, most riders are younger than me!! Feck, I'm old, but not as old as some! PHEW!!
Eldon Accept my apologizes I said he not she. And you know that's even worse. You know women they are always checking up on us. You're well and truly caught. Regards Joe
Eldon. Now I am totally confused you said the girl friend. Then you say the Son. Who bike was it And My Sons always take the Michael out of me all the time. Regards Joe.
The girlfriend (wife to be in October ) passed her test and then bought a Van Van (before I knew her). I was then offered it to commute to work on. Generally I looked after it but on that one day it suffered significant damage Naturally I felt obliged to make it right
Eldon. Thanks now I am back in the game and feel so much better. Congratulation aswel. Hope we all got an invite. She would probably divorce you the same day if all the inmates turned up with snotty noses and dribbles. Congrats Anyway. Joe.
80s child riding an America, the fiancée is saving for her licence/bike (T100) and she's a 90s child..... oh and got the boy wanting to ride as soon as he can
Young people? I was in Triumph Glasgow the other day and no customer was less than about 60 years old, white hair all round? I used to have plenty of different people admire my R1, nowadays its just gentlemen over a certain age that admire my Speed Triple RS. I see less and less 'young people' out on bikes these days and I cant work it out? Gone are the rows of sport bikes I used to see, replaced with sensible things like GS1200, and lots of nondescript faired type motorcycles. I pass more and more 'adventure' bikes these days. Sigh......its just not the same as the old days....or have I become and old fart?
