Hey people of the Triumph forum! I own a 2018 Speed triple RS in white, wich i absolutely love. The bike is my everyday bike and i ride it in all sorts of weather. I've been fighting to keep the headers clean, but some dirt seems to be burnt stuck to the headers and pipes. I need some advice for cleaning them and all suggestions will be much appreciated.
There's an almost identical thread here joten - with a variety of solutions to try https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/strange-marks-on-speed-rs-exhaust.17545/
Thank you! I was hoping someone would say autosol, but i was unsure of using that since the headers and pipes are a type of brushed metal, not polished. But the autosol seems to do the job
The shining pipes against the filth of the surrounding bits of bike is strangely mesmerising Joten - Autosol (I use Peak metal polish) on a pad of wire wool works well too. The Harpic trick also works, but appears to set people off on a "you'll dissolve your bike if you're not careful" frenzy.
Also - treating your cleaned up pipes with ACF-50 really helps to prevent the tarnishing from forming and even reverses it to a degree. It will smoke as it burns off after starting for the first time, but that's all part of the excitement.
