I bought a set of Tec Bike Parts shocks for an air-cooled Bonneville T100. The old shocks came off fine, but the new shocks won't slide on to the mounts. The bushings slide out of the shocks, they are just a little to small to slide onto the mounts. I tried both the upper and lower mounts.

I started to tap the bushing on with a mallet, then thought better of it and removed it from the mounts (which required vice grips over a rag).

Any advice on fitting the shocks appreciated.

I must say I was supposed both that the shocks didn't install easily, and that there were no instructions at all shipped with them or the fork springs I also purchased.

Turns out a 1 page instruction did come with them, it was behind the invoices that were in the shipping package. They discuss this very issue — the powder coat must be removed from the shock mounts (i used emery paper).
