The only advice I would offer is to ensure that you use 'motorcycle specific' engine oil. How will you know? It will be formulated to JASO standards.

Why is this important? If you use normal car engine oil there is a distinct possibility that your clutch will play up badly.

Semi-synth is perfectly OK and usually you would use 10-40 unless you live in the desert or the tundra.

I tend to use Halfords own fully synthetic in my Trident. 5 litres for less than the price of 4 litres of 'mainstream' oil.:) Proper bike oil made by Motul, if the salesman at the Selby branch a few years ago is to be believed.
    Works for me!:)

Any decent motorbike oil as long as it meets the requirements for your bike will do.
Some people put car oil in their bikes due to the cost of motorbike oil.
My opinion is use the right tool for the job so I always use motorbike oil.
I'm sure others may disagree and if so we are in for a rather long oil thread :)
