Right, a tad lost on this one.
Basically the dash acts up like it does when you first turn key to on position whilst driving. Usually when clutch held in coming to a stop. It goes back to normal and then the speedo stops. Been happening for a few days now. And I had a dead battery yesterday. Changed it thinking it's years old and that would fix it but no. Any thoughts? I'm guessing barrel or dash wiring or bad earth.
Cheers all and happy new year!

Potentially yes.....had a fiddle with the clutch quickly to see. Nothing obvious but it hasn't done it in four days.
Will leave for now and if it happens again I'll take it apart and look further.
    Cheers

Soo..... Not a loose wire methinks. Started acting up this morning on the way to work. Same on way home. Stopped at garage for supplies and battery dead. Bumped her and got her home.
    I'm thinking stator?
If so, is it an easy job, I.e remove left hand cover after disconnecting battery and stator plug from harness. Then remove stator from cover, replace and re-fit?
Won't be the rotor to replace too? Not got the tools for that.
    All help gratefully received.
Feels like I'm cheating on doris riding Kylie to work.

Yup looks like one side of your stator is deep fried ! I would replace the regulator too whilst you are on the job, as by the looks of that plug there has been a major event taking place over a few runs !!!

    Cheers Mick.

Yeah. The plug is a little melted. Other end much better. Haven't ordered rectifier yet. Will do tho amd change soon as. Tbh it's ran many times whilst failing and it took till new battery was flat to investigate properly. My bad, but just done 90 days straight, no day off. More pissed off you gotta drop coolant to just to get to one feckin bolt!
    Fingers crossed........

    Cheers.

    Hi Vlad,
I recently had a problem come to light too after i installed a new battery. The bike began to fail to start, there was a problem in a relay in the starter wiring, the wiring loom from starter button to starter solenoid goes through two or three safety cutouts, goes from starter button to clutch to side stand to neutral switch to ecu/starter solenoid, if anyone of those has a fault or dirty connection you get Naadah response starter fails and everything switches OFF until you wait 3secs to try again and same response !
Still looking can't decide between side stand or neutral switch.

    Cheers Mick.
