hello all I am a new member and have just bought my first Triumph 955i ss the question I must ask is...... if the single sided swingarm finished in 2002 how come I have just bought a 2003 bike with one ? I know it is heavier but I loved the bike and now I own it cheers
Hi Radioman and welcome :biggrin: Simple answer is it's a 2002 bike that has been registered in 2003, there is always some old stock that is still about that usually the dealer will do a deal on to get them sold. Cheers Steve
Hi Chap SteveJ's response is certainly one reason, but there is another option. I have a 2004 Daytona 955i SE, which is all black with the carbon inserts. It also has the single sided swing arm. Triumph continued to use the single sided arm on some of their special editions whilst the standard bikes reverted to the traditional "weight saving" double-sided layout. Eventually they went back to single arm towards the end of the Daytona 955i once it became apparent they weren't really competing with the Japanese bikes in terms of outright performance. Your post says yours is an "ss" so it's possible you have a '03 Special Edition model. Wouldn't be able to confirm without pics. Single-sided definitely looks better though :wink:
