I want to check and adjust the head bearing on my 2004 Daytona 600, but am unsure about torque settings outlined in the manual.

In section 11.14 the manual states that the steering stem lock nut is to be tightened to 5Nm then backed off by 1/8th of a turn, then after replacing yokes etc. the top nut is torqued to 90Nm.

However in the torque settings pages the same steering stem lock nut is shown as being at 40Nm and not 5Nm and backed off.

Can anyone help as the 5Nm and backed off setting sounds a little loose to me ???

I know it’s not the same bike but this may give you a bit more of a clue.
