I rode a Harley for a day in November... loved it! But I couldn’t own one as it’s repertoire ticks only one box... I’d have to have a huge garage full of specialised tools if I could afford one and there would be space for a HD. But in the real world, I can’t afford a HD, never mind the garage full of different bikes... and the polishing is too much of a ball ache to be an only bike
A former b A boss I once had rode a Hardly at weekends if the weather was nice during the summer. He had tassels on the bars, on his jacket, and on his saddlebags (wouldn’t call them panniers!); and more chrome than a 1950s Cadillac! We went out for a ride once and he took the bends ridiculously slow and wide to avoid scratching the pegs by actually turning the thing in! It was quite frustrating, when on my bike I wanted to go above third gear.... and that was on the straights!
No - it was embarrassing, frustrating, and not at all enjoyable.... but on the plus side the fact he had established that we were ‘both bikers’ (his words not mine!) did mean that if we weren’t busy in the hangar and the weather was good he’d let me take a longer lunch to go out for a blast!
