So I want to do a coolant flush on a 2009 Triumph Sprint ST 1050. The Google says to use Triumph D2053 OAT. I've had a bit of a time trying to track it down locally. I'm just wondering if there is an equivalent I could use or does it 100% need to be that stuff? I'll order it if I have to but I'd prefer to do it sooner than later. Thanks for the help

Never really paid much attention to the recommended advice. Just always used a good make suitable for alloy heads and metals and semi synthetic or fully.

Flushing and starting again as you are suggesting is simpler, most good name antifreezes will do.
It is more a problem if you're mixing with existing that you have to be careful.

Choose a good mix metal antifreeze and mix up to around 50% maximum strength depending on your requirements.

You can use any ethylene glycol-based OAT (Organic Acid Technology) coolant that meets ASTM D3306 or JIS K2234 specs. Common equivalents:
    - Peak OET (OAT)
    - Prestone Extended Life (yellow)
    - Zerex G-05
Just avoid silicate-based coolants (like standard green stuff). If you’re mixing, stick with the same type or do a full flush if switching brands. No need to wait for Triumph’s exact part.

That's great to hear!! I have a brand new bottle of Prestone Extended Life. Thanks for the help. Trying to track down Triumph parts has become somewhat of a pain in the a** over here in Canada. Lol

That's sad to hear. We get a ton of parts over in the USA
Glad you’re set with coolant Yeah, tracking down Triumph parts in Canada can be a hassle dealers are hit or miss. If you need parts fast, try ordering from the UK or US; sometimes shipping’s quicker than waiting locally.

The only parts I've found are in one of those two places. Unfortunately shipping is 2 or 3 weeks. Although not terrible...I'm eager to get back riding it so it's made it feel much longer

Triumph service consumables are just labeled so Triumph don't make their own everything is branded under license just use any major brand as long as it has the same specs as in the service and owners guides

Bummer about the wait. Hope the parts arrive sooner so you can get back on the bike. Hang in there.
