Hi All, Complete Newbie here. Just bought my first speed triple 1050, actually my first bike period. I was on a T-max before and decided to finally grow up .^^ The bike is unfortunately not in the best shape as you can see but I got it dirt cheap. ^^ I'll be fixing it up shortly and am looking for some advice on everything because I have no clue haha. Thanks for the help.
Hi Rob, Welcome! I’m no expert (despite the high regards people have of my opinions on this forum ), but I don’t think seeing the clutch mechanism on a bike is necessarily a good thing. Try covering with duct tape. Thank you.
Greetings, Rob, and welcome to the forum from another Speed Triple owner. Glad your bike is now in the hands of someone who intends to give her a little much-needed and deserved TLC. Enjoy the forum! There are lots of helpful folks here with knowledge and expertise.
Thanks Guys for the warm welcome!! Looking forward to our discussions. Quick question: Does anyone have a good and trustworthy part website in the us for this specific bike or shop in the Los Angeles area? Also is it ok to buy used OEM parts? I found a used rear master cylinder for around $35 on ebay. It seems in good shape but still would like some advice before I purchase it. So far, I'm missing: rear master cylinder, rearsets, front calipers, gas handle, front signal lights, passenger pegs, gear handle, mirrors and obviously as @Cyborgbot mentioned, the alternator which I have in a separate box. Duck tape might work better ^^ I'm probably missing more stuff but so far this list is what I could find using the little knowledge I have. If you see something else from the pics make sure to let me know. "If you see something, say something" - NYC MTA (The Tube for my English readers) Thanks again for the help!!
TripleRob Welcome to the family. Great project and fantastic intro. Here in the asylum they do favour black one of the favourite colours. Do your build in the rebuilds and projects section. And ask questions in the speed triple section to get a dedicated fan base. Joe.
@joe mc donald thank you for the welcome message and advice! I will for sure post it in the dedicated section as well.
