Blimey, I really must be behind times. Paper filter, compressed air, oiled sponge filter, very hot water and detergent, dry on AGA and re-oil with clean engine oil. £25, how much is a new filter?

Go with the squaredeals stuff - I can't see the DNA stuff being any better. If I remember rightly, it's more important to let the filter dry thoroughly before re-oiling than anything else. It looks as if a lot of people just use ordinary soap and hot water to clean them.

Hi Steve, there is only one reason in my book forgoing for a DNA filter rather than any other. TTP did proper air-flow tests on a bench and found that the DNA flowed more air than any alternatives. More air means more Oxygen and when added to more fuel means more get-up-and-go !!!

Cleaning foam filters. Both KnN and DNA have specialist cleaning products but I agree that a wash-out with hot soapy water and left to dry before applying the oil is the way to go.

Thanks all, I thought about getting a spare filter but then a t 50 squidlionies 10 quid for cleaning products looked more attractive so that's what I done, innit!
