Recently noticed that my Spiple header studs and nuts looked like they had been on holiday to Normandy beach since 6th June 1944 so I decided to fit some nice new shiny ones.

I was lucky not to snap the studs due to the fact they were so corroded.

My bike is at 30k and I'm really glad I didn't leave it any longer to do it. It took a while but I'm happy with the result and it only cost me some gas and about £15 for the new (SS) studs and nuts.

While I was down there I took the headers off the frame and gave them a damn good clean too. Result......sexy pipes for the summer

Needed lots of heat and patience to get the old studs and nuts out..........but saved myself a packet! Always a good feeling

Last thing you want is to snap one off. If you do it's almost guaranteed to be an engine out job.

Get dirty and save yourself some spondoolies

Before and after photos of the job
