I've enjoyed my 05 Speed. I really loved the scorched yellow paintwork and bonded with her really well. I've worked hard on bringing her up to a good standard with bits n bobs and she's received a number of nice compliments over the past year.

But I'm a regular browser of autotrader and I found what's turned out to be an absolute bargain '16 S offered at a keen price. Doble offered me a very fair trade in and the deal was done. A very smooth transaction.

So it's goodbye to my tourqey yellow beast that's been a joy to own and hello to my Diablo S armed with rider modes, abs, TRC, gear indicator and fuel guage!!

After a quick couple of hundred miles, my first impressions are that she has a more supple suspension and much faster pick up at speed while retaining the same well balanced feel at very slow speed. A nice riding position and comfortable saddle with a plusher ride but not as 'raw' as the 05.

Anyway I'm looking forward to exploring her capabilities before the gritters get on with the Devil's work:imp:

Really like your old bike and I know you'll love the new one too, perhaps a little more - 10 years of technology counts for something. Great snaps too...

Thanks manbitescat - I think you're right about the technology, she definitely feels tighter, ahem!
I had a run out tonight after work to catch the sun and recreate an old scene made with the 05

That is a lovely bike, but to be honest I prefer the round eye models
After a year, I traded in my 16R and went back to a 2010
Too many things I couldn't get comfortable with, front suspension was too soft, ride by wire throttle, ABS and traction control got in the way.

Don't get me wrong, they are good bikes, but I prefer the raw naked power of the earlier Speed Triples without the electronic refinement and they are easier to work on needing less specialist tools.

Thanks Red and not to forget the popping exhaust on decelleration, worth throttling it off just to hear it :) but I'm just too loved up at the moment with the "new thing" syndrome lol
