Hi all, it may be nothing but just seen the demo bike that i test road which i'm sure as eggs had 4400 miles on the clock. Its now for sale with 2000 miles on the clock. It might be that memory is fuzzy and it was 2000, but I am sure I made a note that the bike was cracking on in miles for a demo. So question is, can these bikes have the mileage altered by the shop?
Hi COT, you don't give any details of the bike : model/year etc so it's difficult to answer will any degree of certainty, but assuming it has a digital odometer then yes, the dealer can change the reading of distance travelled using their dealer diagnostic computer. Dealers sometimes have to do this when changing out a faulty clock and replacing with a new one, so they have to change the distance travelled on the new one to match the old speedo.
I’m sure they can as biglad says and I believe the true mileage is recorded in the Ecu somewhere deep, it is with cars at least.
