I was speaking to Lou at the weekend and he saying how handy the Chain Monkey was, check out this short video explaining how it works,it looks a handy wee thing right enough.
Does look a handy gadget but if you forgive me saying realise only 25quid but it does look cheap and very flimsy, pretty sure easy to make something yourself based on the same idea but a lot more substantial, or stick with the old fashioned way of doing things (same results )
You can buy a tool to do anything these days don't know why you would want to carry it with you everywhere you go either much rather have my puncture repair kit with me.
These are as old as the hills! We used them all the time to check and set correct aircraft control cable and chain tensions! I'm going to look through my old box of engineering tools to see what else I can use them for and make a buck or two!!
You don,t treat a Harley Davidson like that it needs respect what did paintwork and chrome look like Harley's love money been spent on them you need a shaft drive bike half ton.
You must be one of the unlucky ones i guess and stones bloody hurt thanks for all useful info but i will not be buying a belt drive either but do also prefer shaft driven bikes
I'll have you know dear chap that my Harley went for a 3,000 tour of the USA Mid West, Southern Spain, Austria, Holland and lots of UK Rallies. Not only was it 100% reliable, but I also rode in large groups on all these trips and can only recall one problem of a flat battery on a friends bike.
i think you must have been unlucky with getting a stone stuck under the belt,i've had no problems with any of my belts (had 3 differant hogs) and i havn't heard of anyone i know being unlucky enough to get a stone stuck under the belt although it is a possibility, i suppose it's a bit like getting a stone through the radiator or a chain snapping (i think if i that happened it would put me off chains!),i do check the tension on my hog maybe every 2/3 thousand miles but it never needed adjusting,i can believe guys get 50,000 from the belts no problem, i sold my first one after doing 40k and i had came from a sports bike and all my mates still had them so i used to ride it harder than i should have really (mind you it never complained) and the only thing i had to do was change the brake pads, oils & filters and it's been the same with my other 2, Totally reliable, the only thing they could do is upgrade the suspension they seem to skimp on that for some reason oh and maybe the brakes!

Thats a bit of a surprise i'd have though Honda would have been a clear winner, and the bmw ..whats going on there?
As far as I can determine its a part that requires a fix. Not necessarily under warranty as many owners do the work themselves.
