I was laid off last September after working for this company for 16 years, and at my age I thought I was surely in early retirement. Well surprise surprise after 6 months of pottering about I've just secured another job. Less commuting than before and no people to manage. I'm excited. I start my new job in April.

Might crack open some celebratory bubbly tonight.

    :D:D:D

    Thanks guys.

As a treat for myself and test out a really long distance trip on the Trophy prior to re-joining the working classes, I'm going to have 3 days in Rostock Northern Germany around trip of around 2000kms.
With a couple of day trips to near Peenamunde and Prora. It should be really interesting as I've never been to this part of Germany before. I'll take lots of photos and post them (in a new thread) when I get back (leaving this Sunday)

Well done Nikki with the new job - and enjoy the German trip. It's a fantastic country for biking and it's always nice to put a Triumph amongst the many BMW's!

So back from the very North East of Germany. It was a good job I used the car because there was some horrible heavy rain and at times it was bitterly cold. We saw a lot, highlights were the Island of Rugen where the truely massive Nazi Germany holiday resort of Prora was situated. The building itself is about 4.5kms long and was built to give German workers a holiday (it was designed for 20000 people to holiday at the same time.) There was a museum of old DDR motorbikes situated in part of the building.
The other place we went to was Peenamunde on the island of Usedom, where the Nazis developed the Intercontinental balistic missile the A4 rocket (V2).
Advantages of using the car apart from weather protection was the ability to fill the boot with German food and beer. Fridge is nicely stocked - shall we say. ;);)
