Hi folks, Well Saturday I took my CBT, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday I took my training, yesterday I did Mod 1 & 2 on the same day and today I just got myself a 2013 Thruxton! Kind of feels on par with the birth of my firstborn - actually a pretty similar week in lots of ways: stress, anxiety and huge excitement, lots of financial outlay and with the thrill, that thought in the back of my head that says I’m not quite sure how I qualified for this, I’ve got almost zero experience. Hey ho, guess I’ll have to muddle through, but more than happy to take any advice from any old hands out there... Kind regards Russell
Welcome in Russell, steady away will you're finding your feet there. Try and find a few like minded folk and ride out with them, the feedback they'll give you will be worth its weight............as long as they're not all hoons of course
Russell. Everyone has given you the right advice. Care and alertness is of course the key. Remember conditions now colder and takes a little longer for those tyres to warm up. And your machine can really step away from a standing start so take it easy till you feel you are one with the bike. You will love it and be sure to let us all know how you are getting on. And the best advice from Andyc1 drivers out there just don't care enough and I do believe they just don't see you. Ride Free and welcome to the Family. Joe.
Welcome aboard Russell, hope you enjoy the forum, cracking looking first bike you have there, I remember mine, a green Suzuki GT ram air, they were the days, lol, you've already been given great advice, just take you're time to get to know the bike and they way she reacts and of course, grow another pair of eyes, in your arse, lol, stay safe.

Great work, Russell - the whole shebang within a week!!! Take it easy with your bike whilst you get some miles under your belt, and be particularly careful on those twisties as we start to see the winter weather (we've been lulled into a false sense of security with all this sunshine and warmth).
Just a little reminder you may not have thought about at this time of year - treat leaves on the road like ice!
Thank you so much for such a warm welcome, wow! Genuine old school community isn’t dead and buried, so gratifying to stumble across. Thank you too for the words of wisdom. I’ve already had a few chats with other Triumph owners, so there’s clearly a tremendous following out there. I pick her up on Tuesday (the benefits of being a teacher on half term) and plan to pootle about until I’ve got my feet. Commute is only short, so I figure so long as I tog up and don’t go out in snow and ice I’ll manage... Thank you again for the welcome.
Sorry, me again. You probably realise it but when you set off on a nice sunny cold day with dry roads, don't assume there won't be icy patches (e.g. on a bend where an icy wind blows across) . This is a reminder to myself too!
Not a rider on here who hasnt fell off. How do you want yours = slow and gentle would be my guess. Hi.
Welcome to the Asylum you should fit right in. Great bike and the shed doors are in the best colour BLACK . when are you painting the shed BLACK Tucker
