We rode to Whitianga on Friday, to reduce accomodation expenses, with the obligatory refreshment stop.

Early rise to ride to Whangamata for registration and catch-up with other chapters

First stop was back at Whitianga for toilet stop and watch the offshore power boats.

After collecting some wayward riders from town, we were heading to Coromandel town for lunch. This involved the winding trip through the hills :party:Weather was overcast but hot :sun:

Dinner, prize giving and goodbyes had us ride back to Whitianga before dark. :imp:
The loop was 235km/146miles and with riding there and home we had a 450km/280miles weekend.
Squeaky rear wheel had me worried after replacing bearings, but tension adjustment one turn up removed the belt squeak :p

Was almost perfect @Baza , with Autumn started I don’t like complaining about the heat, but it was warm at altitude through the hills. Nothing that a cold brew couldn’t quench :p

Just now saw this thread, @Dartplayer. Looks like a great day out! I really enjoy seeing your pictures. There’s so much water in many of them! That always makes us desert dwellers a bit “lustful”. :joy: I’m curious as to whether there are any women riders in your group or that ride with you now and again?

    Hi Sandi,
I understand the waterlust for us divers, must be hard not having it close by.
We are spoiled living on a narrow island with water on both coasts near by.
Yes, we have women riders in Auckland chapter and many more around the country

You are blessed to have that water so close, @Dartplayer. It is hard—especially as a diver and not just a “desert rat”—to be so far from the ocean. But I’m happy to report that Steve and I are presently in Cozumel for a week of scuba! We did our first dives today and it was glorious to be back down swimming with the fishies. :grinning::heart:

Glad to know your crew includes some women riders. Seems there were more and more for awhile there and now our numbers seem to be stalling out a bit. Thanks for sharing more photos!!
