Does it have the switch on the side stand ? I've had it where sometimes it does the same on my speed triple, then I kick the side stand back out and back in then it does the pre check on the dash indicating that it's ready to fire up. It's almost as if the switch on the side stand is not registering that it's up. That and the run switch by the handle bar that you use to start. That's if you are sure the battery is fine which sounds like it is if the light comes on strong.
