I've inherited an 09 Plate Bonnie, which had only covered 600 miles in 7 years ! I've quickly added another 1000. Yesterday the engine management lamp came on, I stopped restarted etc, etc, still light on. I was 100 miles from home so rode home, bikes running fine no difference to anything. Obviously could be something could be nothing and I know these lamps monitor a Myriad of issues, so my question is ;- Is there anything that they are renowned for and where should I start to look ? And is there a way in resetting the Lamps Any advise appreciated. Thanks in advance
Resetting the lamp is a 3 times cold to hot start and or Get yourself a OBD to usb cable and a programm called tuneecu so that you can identify and clear faults
Firstly many thanks for your reply. Which raises a question so please indulge me ! Whats a 3 x cold to hot start ? In advance MANY thanks Bruce
Sorry, you start the bike let it warm up or take it for a run then stop it and let it cool, when cold repeat 2 more times. This can be done over a few days or 1 day.
Hi BruLan, if you haven't already done so download the free program TuneECU and then connect your laptop to the bike and ask the program to do an error code search. Once you've identified what triggered the error codes you can clear them.
It will if you run a Windows emulator on your Mac just for this program. http://tuneecu.com/TuneECU_En/index.html
