ok I need to do an oil change. Just for my piece of mind.
Not sure what oil was put in on the last change but would imagine semi syn.
So my question is would it be better to use full synth or semi.
No need to go into the specifications such as long as it meets so and so.
I'm leaning to full synth but some engines suit one type more than the other.
So just wondering which one to get.

The single most important thing above all else is that the oil is motorbike specific due to the way clutches work on bikes.

i would have thought the semi synth would more than do the job..if it was fully synth that was put in before though I've heard you can't go back to the semi synth. Does the manual recommend the semi synth?

Recommends both either semi or full synth.
Last oil change was before I bought it. My local dealer normally sticks a sticker on it so that you know which oil was in there.
I've also heard that about synth as well. Not sure where that comes from.
When I've done oil changes in the past I've always used semi but then the engines were a much older design than this one.
Might just pop over and see what they would put in if they were doing it.

I think the fully synth is more recommended for high revving bikes like sports bikes although the speed triple is fully synth but that does rev higher than the thunderbird
