I travel around the country delivering cars so visit a lot of roadside cafes, went in my "local" café in potterspury a couple of weeks back and can honestly say it was the worst most greasy breakfast iv'e ever had,NEVER before have I wasted nearly all of a breakfast, there's a van outside derby county football club now your talking, massive no grease and £4.50 and another good one at stibbington on the A1 between Peterborough and Stamford.
For low grease grilling at home get one of these, really makes a difference. Burgers must be one of the worst things for grease but as this is getting squashed from above there hardly any grease left in it once cooked. I find they cook far quicker too a few minutes compared to 10 mins plus. Also keeps the cooker clean and must earn brownie points with swmbo surely http://www.argos.co.uk/product/9014097
got one of them and they are really good, this should maybe in the "good to know" thread ..George sold the rights to the name in 1999 for $138 million!! The rumble in the jungle was obviously worth it
Used the truck stop at Stibbington several times in my trucking days, and yes, it was pretty decent. Trouble with it was that the potholes in the lorry park were like miniature opencast mines!!
The all day breakfast at Fourways on the J&S site on the A556 in Cheshire gets my vote. Costs £4.95 and thats with a coffee or tea. Good quality food that is freshly cooked for each order. Wessa
It's all right, price is very reasonable. Just need to find somewhere up here to get my breakfast after a blast
Yup! But I think, going by the projected sales of the new bobber, they'll only be serving coffee from beans that have been passed through a Peruvian rodent and croissants! We shall be organising a run/meet up there once it's opened, now, where did I put my man bag!
Cafe moto (A1 moto) in York do a great breaky with bikes to drool over after. Although the ride to the old Smithy at Monyash is a better route for me.
When I was truck driving I felt it was my duty to sample the wares of as many of the roadside culinary gods and goddesses as was possible. Well, it would be rude not to! I well remember the delights of a double cheeseburger with fried onions and a fried egg on top - layby on the A7 northbound just south of Longtown. That, along with a mug of tea, was my breakfast on the way up to Alloa. Kept me going for most of the day!
Haven’t been on the A7 in years. Always thought Alloa was a dump, few members of the family live there as well
If you're around the Yorks/Derbys border and want a top quality breakfast then http://www.theschoolrooms.co.uk/cafe/4590139808 is the place. Not cheap, but worth every penny in my view and if you take Mortimer road which links the A616 and A57 you will be treated to a peach of a B road. It goes by a place called Wigtwizzle.
