Maybe I'm getting a wee bitty long in the tooth but I've been going for fruity flavoured beers this winter. Had a few Elvis Juices to add to the wet weight for my poor long suffering Speedy to drag a long.
I just bought a box of Brewdog's other offerings which among others included Lost - Blood Orange, Have to say it tastes less of blood orange and more of fairy liquid..

    I’ve
tried the Elvis juice a few times and like the Punk IPA. Not tried the Blood Orange yet. I do like some of their beers, not all but some.

I don't understand the point of beer that doesn't taste like beer. And where have all these citrus based beers come from? Most IPA's are polluted with a nasty lemony-lime flavour. Horrible muck. There'll be people admitting they like lager next! Shame on you.

not me, definitely not me on the Liking lager front. When I first started going in pubs lager was only sold in half pints as it was for the ladies . Nasty, fizzy, tasteless stuff.
I do like some of the modern East Coast style IPAs though. I struggle to like the sours though.

It's the same with cider. Cider is about apples, not raspberries, oranges, black or blueberries. If it ain't broke dont try to fix it.

Cider made with apples is the only one I don’t like. I don’t mind the other fruit ones.

Since my days of living in Hull, I have loved a good English bitter served at "cave temp". Here in the US, I can always find Boddington's and a couple of Guinnesses, including the traditional Stout. Buy my favorite is the Nitro Coffee Stout! My wife and I have tense negotiations when there is only one left! But they are a bit pricey on this side of the pond.

I generally avoid Fruit and Sours, but that's simply a function of my tastes. I'm happy to respect others' preferences.

    Cheers!

Lager and Fruit flavoured beers fall into the alcopops bracket although I must admit, as a simple thirst quencher on a really hot day, a chilled lager and lime takes some beating!:joy: For fibre, vitamins and shear nutritional value a good Stout or Porter also takes some beating IMO. :grinning: Wells Bombardier Satanic Mills is a favourite but can be hard to find. I used to love Stones Draught Bitter back in the days when it was brewed in Sheffield. My current go to for canned liquid sustenance is John Smiths Draught. We have some good pubs in Sheffield who serve specialist brews from small and local breweries. The beers on offer are very much a mixed bag though, ranging from absolute nectar, through "acquired taste" to overpriced sheep dip.

I was beginning to think it was only me that found the citrus IPA, lager, cider trend rather unpalatable !
Try going down the alcohol free route and even the proper beers are infested with it (with the notable exception of Guinness 0.0).
I've found myself not drinking at all rather than suffer this muck. An outcome that even surprises myself!

When I joined the RAF in 1968 the bloke in the next bedspace came from Withernsea, we used to go there on leave and I became hooked on Hull Breweries Mild, I can almost taste it now.
I dislike many of the micro brewary fruit and veg beers, I like Hall & Wodehouse, Arkels, London Pride, Doombar and Bishops Finger, most available on offer from Tescos.

Edited to add, this might bring back a memory,

Only Guinness and Irish whiskey for me, and I'm from County Durham with no Irish connections.

An Irishman finds a Genie lamp and rubs it. Out comes the Genie and says, “Master you have released me from the lamp and I grant you three wishes – what would you like?”
The Irishman scratches his head, then answers, “A bottle of Guinness that never gets empty.”
“Granted, master” replies the Genie and produces the bottle.
The man is delighted and gets drunk on this one magic Guinness bottle for weeks. Finally he remembers that he has two other wishes. He rubs the lamp again and the Genie appears.
“Yes master, you have two more wishes, what would you like?”
“You know that magic, never ending Guinness bottle?” he asks the Genie.
“Well, for my final two wishes, I’d like another two of them…”
