    Hi All,

My recently acquired bike had squealing brakes, bloody annoying. So I checked the pads and they 'looked' glazed and only 3mm of meat left.

I ordered EBC HH pads not really realising they are sort of race pads. I thought bugger it and used them. I looked online how to bed them in and followed the consensus which seemed to be accelerate to about 35, then brake hard until nearly stopped and repeat 10 times. I did this and they seem fine.

I was surprised I could get the ABS to kick in easily and also felt the leaver move in a lot.

It was a warm dry day with decent tyres. The back wheel did come up a bit but only skipping. What's people's thoughts on pads and bedding in? Also can the ABS be turned down a bit?

Hi Clarkey, that's exactly how I always broke in pads in all my cars and bikes.

Re the ABS, on most bikes currently available the system works to a fixed set of parameters and is therefore not adjustable. Exceptions are the KTM 1190 and 1290 where you can select different fuelling maps for street and off-road and in doing this the sensitivity of the ABS actuation is altered.
