What would completely zap a battery of all its power in five to fifteen minutes when the battery as had a full charge???

The wife just reminded me that the reason I replaced the battery eighteen months ago is because I thought I had a dodgey battery as that would not hold a charge either...

Jeez duck! Your bike is of the devils making, have you checked there isn’t a hex bag hidden in it somewhere? Maybe put a bit of holy water in the rad and add some Chrism to your oil!

What about this bit being faulty...how do you test it to see if it's good or bad and what's a new one likely to set me back???

When you ripped your wiring loom to bits and pulled loads of ‘redundant’ wiring out, did you check that the charging system was still working after you’d put it all back together? o_O

Have a search through the forum to see if you can find Sprinter’s thread that had a list of checks to do to check the charging system.
I seem to remember it listed what voltages you should get when running/ not running etc

Not specifically but the wife as reminded me that this was actually a problem before with the battery...
Everything seemed ok visually...I mean it was all connected up properly and secure after all terminals and connections had been cleaned....

Also other than a visual check I can't do much else..I have no multimeter and would not know what or which kind to purchase as they all seem so different and vary hugely in price...plus not sure how yo really use one to find out if a parts working the way it should...

You can get a cheap multimeter for about £25 (there are cheaper but a 1p one on Amazon doesn’t make me think it’ll be much good )
Have a look at this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/AstroAI-Mu...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
If you get one then there’s plenty of us here who’ll help you out with using it. :grinning:

As l've said before, got a multimeter and would happily have a cruise up to try and help you. Got a spare battery too. Have you got a Haynes manual? Pretty sure there are test readings for reg/rec etc in there. A good one from reputable dealer like Electrex will be £100-120 at a guess, Ebay tingtong stuff at a sixth of that price :)

That looks superb for the money Freck. I always tell people that a £20 DVM will do most jobs.
But I've never seen one as feature packed as that for just a few quid more! :grinning:

Read my Haynes manual like its the bible :p
I shall have a play on Wednesday with the multi meter and see what's going on there...I'm getting a bit despondent but don't want to break the bike and sell parts on Ebay just yet if I can avoid it as Mrs Duck is sort of recommended..:pensive:
