On Sunday I did a rideout with my wife and our bikes, Tiger and Honda, back to the past in the Austrian history. We crossed our province from the south to the north via some wonderful landscapes. After a two hours ride we reached the Renaissance castle Rosenburg. It was built in the 16th century. The actual castle is based on a historic castle of 1150. The castle is owned by the Hoyos-Sprinzenstein family since 1681.
Beside the castle itself, with it's historic scenery, you can find an other highlight there. The family supports a public viewing of their also in the castle based falconry.
The public viewing is moderated by a falconer who talks about the historic development of the falconry in Austria. During his explanations a hudge amount of birds are presented and perform a real "air show" for the audience.
In the following some impressions in two parts.

Great photos Markus! I went to a similar display at a castle not far from me, Muncaster Castle, two or three years ago and it was brilliant. Very informative and the birds were majestic.

That's right! It was really brilliant there! I have never seen a trained hunting eagle owl or a giant sea eagle before.
