On my previous bikes I always had an aluminium top box that I could lock my helmet in when I arrived somewhere and didn't want to carry my helmet around all day. I'm not sure that a big top box really suits the Scrambler 1200 XE, and I'm not keen on locking the helmet to the bike, so looking for recommendations for any helmet bags that might make it easier to carry my helmet when away from the bike. Must haves: Shoulder strap Room for a Shoei XXL full-face helmet Folds down small when empty, so I can stuff it into a pannier bag, or under a cargo net. Nice to haves: Separate pocket for gloves Just wondered if the hive-mind had any collective favourites before I start buying every one I can find for comparisons. Cheers, Charlie
I use an old oxford product. It's a collapsible rucksack with an inbuilt compartment for carrying a helmet. It looks like it been superseded by a newer product here https://www.oxfordproducts.com/moto...gage/miscellaneous_luggage/oxford_handy_sack/ Personally after clouting the crash lid countless times as I turn around I much prefer to cable lock them to my bike, usually to the pillion grab handles and then have them sitting on the seat.
RAF Pilots have a shaped carry bag for their helmets which has a soft inner to protect visor, has carrying handles, and a soft hardwearing outer. No shoulder strap (suppose you could add a shoulder strap). I have a couple obtained from army navy surplus, they are well made.
I got one with my Bell - It was pretty nice, no shoulder strap though Perhaps get a line into the classifieds here to see if anyone will sell one they aren't using?
Thanks all, someone on Triumph Rat suggested a helmet bag by Tucano Urbano, which I had not seen before. Ordered one and just received it. It was exactly what I was looking for, very lightweight, packs into it own pouch, and comes with a shoulder strap. This is the one: https://www.tucanourbano.com/en/pp/bags-black-488-65737 I'll try it out over the Summer, and if I still get fed up of lugging my helmet around in it, then I will be ordering one of the Deemeed helmet bags to secure it to the bike: https://deemeed.com/en/products/48-helmet-bag/
