Aligning 3ta Timing Pinions

    I can see the alignment dots on the inlet and exhaust pinions, and on the intermediate pinion but not the one on the crankshaft pinion. I'm guessing it would/should align with TDC. Anyone know for sure?

    I think the engine should be at top dead centre (keyway facing up) you may have to loosen the nut and washer off to see it, but the crank pinion should have a dot too.
    ALLWAYS turn the engine over by hand after timing to check nothing touches internally.

    Thanks - I'll try to take the nut off to be sure (hadn't done it already as I can't find a big enough spanner lol). And thanks for the tip about handcranking it first.
