Hi guys new to the forum so I apologize if this thread has been covered elsewhere

I got a 2013 Tiger Explorer XC. When I start the engine I can hear a noise that sounds like
a fan or just air coming out of somewhere. The bike still runs perfectly and it has no issues
with the engine that I've noticed.

Has anyone has this problem. If it even is a problem ?

It seems to only happen at the first start of the day

Like I said I'm not sure if this is even an issue just thought I'd see what you guys think

    Cheers

Hello and welcome to the funny farm:p
Is the noise the fuel pump priming, that sort of sounds like a fan running, although my speed triple does it on every start as it appears to depressurise after a few seconds. If it's not that could it be the idle control system, that would be used only once if you then start the engine when it's warm after?

That sounds like you're right on point. I haven't noticed the sound on a warm start but I'm gonna take the bike out in a while and I'll pay attention to it the next couple of days and get back to you.
    Thanks for the answer buddy

And thanks for the warm welcome :D

But if it is the idle-control system that sounds like something I might want a shop to take a look at.

Pleasure, I'm sure somebody with a similar bike will be along shortly.

Quick update. I took the bike out just got home. The engine was still abit warm but no fan/wind noise.

I think I just overreacted about all this to be honest. But I can get a mechanic to check it out on next years service

The bike makes a kind of whining noise when you switch it on, it's just everything priming. It's normal, can do the same when the ignition is turned off too.

Yeah that noise I'm not worried about I know what you're talking about.

I'm gonna film it tomorrow on a cold start and post it and hopefully it's gonna make more sense then.

If I can't find anything I'll check with mechanics next summer. I really don't think there's anything to worry about since everything about the bike works.

I never really located where the sound comes from but that's sounds about right. So you're saying there's probably nothing to worry about ?

Yeah I didn't hear anything on a warmstart. It's only the first start of the day when it's been in the garage for the night. Well that's great news thanks buddy !
