I have an old but hardly used AGV full face that needs a new visor....There aren't any serial numbers etc. on the visor, and the only id label in the lid is illegible. any specialist visor suppliers out there? The local bike shops couldn't be less interested except in selling me a new lid...

Any ideas? I would be sad and annoyed to scrap a perfectly good bit of kit.

just a thought.... I have reasonably successfully polished plastic headlight lenses and other bits of Perspex, but not necessarily up to the standard for a visor... think that might work ? its not heavily scratched, just all a bit star-burst at night so its better to flip it up in oncoming traffic.

theres a few good you tube clips on how to polish out minor scratches, it looks a bit time consuming, but if your'e not able to get a replacement it might be worth having a look

thanx for the interest guys.... I just spent a serious hour with an old can of t-Cut and some finishing car wax mixed about 50-50.. I think it was a bit of manky filmy surface gunge, finger prints road dirt.... its super clean now, some deeper small scratches still but not a problem, and the star burst effect is much less.....so much so that I will do it again with some finer pro polishing compound and maybe the buffing wheel on a power tool. And with more effort I think I won't need a new visor.

Great news, I love fixing things rather than replacing them. :)

What I'd be tempted to do is photograph the helmet and visor from a number of angles and email AGV Customer Support and see if they can identify it and perhaps point you at a replacement visor.

They may respond telling you that the internals of old helmets can break down and provide little protection, true but ho hum. Or they may surprise you. :D
