So I am looking to buy an ABBA stand and wanted to get the front wheel off the ground to. I looked at the Front lift add-on for an extra 50 quid. The thing is, if you watch the vid for the basic stand. See approx 1.22 on the vid I think ,if you position the bike with the back wheel next to a ground anchor, you could tie down the swing arm and that would raise the front wheel securely with no need for the extra expense of the Front Lift Arm. What do you think?
Dependijg on what bike you have, you can support the front by using a jack stand under the engine (not headers). I've had the Wife push the back down while I've slid some bricks under the engine too. This was on an SV650 though where the header pipe was not in the way. I've also used a tie down to a 40kg dumbbell which was fine. Ps. I wouldn't trust any of this to hold while I am under the bike. If I needed it to be ultra secure I'd get a headstock stand.
I’ve had an ABBA stand for about 10 years and it’s very versatile. If you want to lift the front as well, either a small jack, scissor or bottle will lift easily or another person and some packing.. A really great product
Agree with all the above, a tie down of some sort or proper placed jack to lower rear wheel will have the effect of raising the front wheel.
Sprinter. If anyone wants a plank of wood like the peeps were taking the mick out of me for using. I a can supply. I just on other occasions just use a car trolley jack. Ride Free Joe.
I am trying to avoid jacks under the engine, for fear of cracking the sump. The stand arrives next week so Ill give it a go and tell you how it works.
Ron It is but didn't want it to get out of the bag till I got the patient approved. Got my Christmas wishes I think. My Little Darling ask what I would like so I told her. So fingers crossed. Ride Safe Joe.
