    Hi all,

I am going to be changing the rear shock on my 2002 sprint st. I have checked the manual but is there anything to watch out for.

    Cheers steve

Straight forward is my Kawasaki h1 500, 2 bolts, 2 nuts and shocks off!

ST, remove seat cowl, remove fuel lines and connectors, remove tank

Well the good news is my £36 Ebay standard shock from the good old US of A is installed and much better than the pogo stick that was there before. Apart from getting the front tank mounting bolt back in, no problems.

However, now I have the engine management light on! I have tried connecting TuneECU to see what's going on but it says the ECU is not responding. I have connected up before with the same laptop, software and cable with no problems.

Can anybody shed any light on how to go forwards.

    Cheers Steve.

PS. Beowulf can recently fitted sounds the business.

If you've unplugged any wires doing your shock swap the em light will come on usually goes off after 3 cold to hot engine cycles

Yes had to unplug fuel relay to get tank off and I have now got into Tuneecu and can see a fault code for this.

Thanks for reply, I will see how it goes.

    Cheers steve

If the tank had fuel in, it will expand when removed.
Take out fuel and leave for a time ( sorry cant be more specific) and it will shrink.

Absolutely correct, em light went off after 3 x hot cold cycles. Just had major service and rear tyre done today, let’s hope summer comes back soon.

    Cheers Steve
