Well, I bought this bike back in March from an insurance auction not knowing if it would run. The insurance co held on to the bike since 2012. With only 1400 miles on it I figured that this bike will run. Front rim was damaged and rear subframe bent along with bent handle bars and front forks tweaked. No mirrors or blinkers and front pegs grinder down. Tank dented and left rear fairing damaged. Started by removing tank and air box, emptying old fuel, changing putting in new spark plugs and oil and filter, then new battery. Ok, bike cranks but won't start. Noticed as I'm cranking no reading on tachometer, and there were scratches in the stator cover so I installed new stator. Still won't fire. Ok, so now I put in new rectifier and still no fire. So, if the bike has been sitting in the weather for almost five years I figure it's time to check and clean all electrical connections. That was fun! Ok I crank it over and we have fire!!! Now the accident damage repair begins. Whew...

Hell there's been a few surprises there ey ! Glad to hear you got it running at least. Hopefully you got it for a decent price as I am sure the expenses rack up quickly ! Well I wish you the best of luck in sourcing all the parts and sorting all the things still to be done. Keep us posted !

Thanks, the rest is done. Most of the parts I got on eBay. All that's left is a small dent on gas tank and that I can fix as well. Sorry about the short novel I hope I didn't bore you. Are you from England? Picking up a friend of my sons coming in from Congleton. It really very beautiful there.

No not at all. It's always interesting to hear the journey that got the bike to now and all the things that had to be done to get it there. Sounds like you've done this a few time i.e. experience in builds. I wish I could see Congleton, I often drool when seeing the beautiful places other members post pictures of.

I'm in South Africa, so very far from you !

Thanks RB, back in the day I used to have a 1971 650 Bonnie, after that I've been through there Honda gold wings, 1 Harley sportster, two Electra glide ultras, 1 Suzuki Hayabusa, 1 Kawasaki ZX1400 ninja, A Yamaha VMax, now bake to to Triumph and Wow! They really have come a long way with their bikes. Really need to do something about seat comfort though on the Street Triple.

There is one place in Shasta Lake California, it's Russell cycle products. They custom make day long seats for just about any bike. You send in your seat pan let them know what you want and from what I've read so far is about their seats is pretty amazing.
