Looking for a technical presentation for the 660 triple engine. Searching Google, this site and others has not produced what I am looking for.

I am coming from the Porsche and Mercedes world where such documents are common. I am looking for descriptions of systems (cooling, ignition, induction, exhaust, lubrication, electrical, etc etc) and cutaway illustrations.

I have found videos of breathless Triumph enthusiasts (I am one) but nothing that compares with what I see from German car companies. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Many questions answered in this video:

One main question was whether the cylinders are steel or plasma coated or alusil or nikasil. Answer: steel. Thanks be to God.

Coated and etched cylinders are the curse of modern engines.

Not a fan of a girdled block vs a deep-skirted design but it has been used successfully for quite some time.

Cam bearing cap bracket (1-piece) is interesting.

    Cylinder head seems straightforward.

Need to dig into the cooling system more deeply.

Here is another one and info from ChatGPT (can't find it on Triumph's official sites). This is the 800 triple. To my knowledge the 660 and 800 are architecturally the same.

Open deck, steel sleeve, 4 valve per cylinder, DOHC.

    Engine family: TT660
    Triumph engine code: T801
Model platform code: L08 (Tiger Sport 660)
    Bore x stroke: 74.0 x 51.1
    Compression ratio: 11.95:1

Triumph doesn't publish those detailed technical documents for the public like Porsche does. Your best bet is the official Service Manual for your specific model year. It's the only thing that comes close and has all the system descriptions and diagrams you're looking for.

Just curious..is this the sort of information you normally check out before you buy a vehicle?

It is something I collect for vehicles I own so that I can understand, operate, maintain and fully enjoy them. Too bad Triumph doesn’t publish this information.
